Clive Merrison
Clive Merrison's many theatre appearances have included The Madness of George the Third at the Royal National Theatre, The Front Page at the Old Vic and Much Ado About Nothing for the Royal Shakespeare Company.

His films include An Awfully Big Adventure, Heavenly Creatures, Photographing Fairies, The English Patient and The Sign of Four (as Bartholomew Sholto, with Ian Richardson as Holmes).

Among many other TV appearances, he has been seen in in Yes, Prime Minister, Miss Marple, Dr Who, The Borgias, The Labours of Erica, A Very British Coup, Pie in the Sky, Shine on Harvey Moon, Private Schultz and Bergerac. He starred opposite Michael Williams in the sitcom Double First.

Clive Merrison is a past winner of the Sony Radio Award for Actor of the Year.






Michael Williams' film appearances include Educating Rita, Henry V, Enigma, Eagle in a Cage and Alexander the Great.

His theatrical career includes a long series of plays with the Royal Shakespeare Company, among them The Merchant of Venice, The Taming of the Shrew, As You Like It and King Lear.

On television he has appeared in many plays, series and serials, including Elizabeth R, Love in a Cold Climate, Shadow on the Sun, Quest of Eagles, Behaving Badly and My Son, My Son. He starred with Russ Abbot in the sitcom September Song and with his wife Dame Judi Dench in A Fine Romance. In 1997-8, together with the original director Patrick Garland, he revived the one-man play Brief Lives which toured the UK to great acclaim and also had a successful run in the West End.

After a lengthy struggle against lung cancer, Michael Williams died in January 2001.
