It was no easy task for Andrew Sachs to follow in such well-loved and highly-acclaimed footsteps as those of the late Michael Williams, but he and Clive Merrison quickly established a rapport.

Sachs retained all his predecessor's qualities of strength, integrity and intelligence in the role, while at the same time making it his own.
